Role until May 2019 – possibly longer.
Main role of the post is to visit all temporary accommodation (TA) in and out of Islington, in order to establish standard of properties, confirm occupancy, and check compliance with Health and Safety standards. The officer will work closely with TA providers to ensure that minimum standards are met and that corrective action is taken where necessary.
Candidate will have to carry out assessments, travel from property to property on a daily basis, must have experience dealing with all types of backgrounds and difficult situations, must have dealt with homeless people. Candidate who only have housing experience or housing officers will not be suitable.
Essentials for the role;
Understanding of the issues relating to homeless people, from many different backgrounds, presenting a range of vulnerabilities, challenges and complex needs. Excellent communication skills. Ability to pay attention to detail. Knowledge of accommodation standards.
